Course Description

The First Aid (Level 2) course focuses on the skills and knowledge necessary to provide a first aid response to a casualty in a workplace environment. The First Aid course includes CPR (HLTAID009 provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation) training. The first aid course provides students with the skills and knowledge to recognise, respond to and manage an emergency medical situation.

First Aid Officers responsible for the provision of First Aid in the workplace, employees working in high risk industries such as manufacturing, construction or childcare, volunteers involved with sporting events, children or the elderly. Safety Systems Pty Ltd recommends in accordance with the Australian Resuscitation Council, CPR retraining every year and First Aid retraining every 3 years.

Assessment

The Provide First Aid course includes; written theory assessment involves completion of the Learners Manual (Online) prior to attending the course. The Learners Manual comprises of multiple choice and short answer questions. Practical assessment requires correct demonstration of CPR and a range of first aid applications and participation in workplace based scenarios

What level of training is HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid

HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid is also referred to as Workplace Level 2 First Aid. Successful completion of this unit provides students with the skills and knowledge to recognise, respond to and manage an emergency medical situation.

 

What do I need to do before attending training?

After a booking has been finalised, an email containing confirmation details and pre-assessment tasks will be sent to you. This pre-learning will need to be completed prior to your scheduled training date and a copy needs to be provided to our team as part of your assessment.

 

Do I need to enrol in both CPR and Provide First Aid?

The Provide First aid training includes CPR, so you do not need to enrol separately.

What is the minimum age to complete First Aid Training?

To complete First Aid training at Safety Systems, the participants must be at least 15 years of age. If under the age of 18, we will require a permission form to be signed by a parent or guardian.

How long is the First Aid course?

To complete the HLTAID011 Provide First Aid training will take approximately 8 hours of face-to-face learning. There is also pre-learning to be completed by each student prior to the training date. This information will be sent along with the confirmation email.

Do First Aid and CPR certifications expire?

While there is no mandated expiry, the Australian Resuscitation Council recommends CPR training be refreshed annually and First Aid training be refreshed every 3 years.
